Question about external lighting for a NIkon D60?

Friday Jan 29, 2010

I want some lighting I can control for when I take pictures on my camera….is there any camera accessories specifically for this?

So do you mean something other than a flash?

Perhaps something like the Lite Panels? These were really designed for video cameras, but can work with DSLRs also, but range is no where near as good as with a powerful shoe mount flash such as the Nikon SB900.

p.s. do you get the neck strap and charger etc as well as…
please tell me everything that is in the kit. thanks jay

Here is what you get:

Supplied accessories (may differ by country or area): EN-EL9 Rechargeable Li-ion Battery, MH-23 Quick Charger, UC-E4 USB Cable, DK-20 Rubber Eyecup, AN-DC1 Camera Strap, BF-1A Body Cap , DK-5 Eyepiece Cap, BS-1 Accessory Shoe Cover, Software Suite CD-ROM …

Nikon D60 Digital Camera Question?

Friday Jan 29, 2010

I was just wondering i dont know where my camera manual is and was wondering if you can video tape with this camera?

The D60 came out before Nikon started adding video capture to it’s line of DSLR cameras. Currently the only Nikon DSLR’s that can capture video are the D90, D5000, D300s, and D3s.

Is a Nikon D60 a good first dslr camera for a 13 year old?

Friday Jan 29, 2010

I’m 13 years old and have had like 4 cameras already but none a dslr. I’m into photography and ok at it and I want my first dslr camera. Do you recommend the Nikon D60? I can work my way around it don’t worry about that, I just don’t know if that cameras good or not for the price (about 600$)

I am more of a canon guy but the nikon d60 is an amazing dslr as a first dslr. Playing with the manual settings, you’ll learn a lot about photography. Using the automatic features will help aswell. If your really unsure some camera stores allow the users to play with the cameras before you purchase them plus tons of camera stores have a knowledge staff that will show you how to use some of features.

How to use Nikon D60 to take some nice portrait?

Friday Jan 29, 2010

How to adjust Nikon D60 Camera to take some nice portrait. the result I want is to blur the background and focus on the object

I am assuming that you currently own the kit lens that came with your camera. Here is how you blur the background of your portrait shots, step by step:
1. Set your mode dial to "A"
2. Zoom your lens to maximum telephoto (which in your case is probably 55mm)
3. Set the aperture the lowest value (5.6 with the kit lens)
4. Keep your subject relatively close to fill the frame, and the background as far as possible, and shoot!

The kit lens you probably have currently isn’t really the best lens in the world to get you beautiful defocused background, because it’s max aperture is only f/5.6. Ideally, you want a lens with the low aperture value. If you have money to burn, get the Nikkor 50mm f/1.4 AFS, which would be able to give you excellent defocused backgrounds. Alternatively, you can opt for the (much) cheaper Nikkor 50mm f/1.8 AF, however, this lens will not be able to autofocus on your D60.
