Can someone PLEASE tell me why there is a timer remote for just about every DSLR BUT NOT the Nikon D60?!?!?

Thursday Aug 26, 2010

There is a timer remote for every Nikon DSLR except the D60. The only thing there is a button remote and software you have to download and hook your camera up to a computer which is STUPID cause if you need to do outdoor shooting, your now dependent on two batteries (computer and camera).

I think you bought the D60 as an entry level camera because it was economically a better choice.

Had you purchased a D300, D90 or other more advanced camera (but it would have whacked out your budget), those options would be available.

Having unrealistic expectations of an entry level, budget camera seems to be common, so don’t feel bad

Can I use the Nikon D60’s battery in my Nikon D3000?

Monday Aug 16, 2010

The batteries are the same size and everything and it works in my D3000. But when i looked at the specs, the D60’s battery was a 7.4V and the D3000’s battery was a 7.2V is that a big difference? I still used it in my camera cause mine ran out of batteries. But does it do any harm?

Looks like you should be able to use the batteries interchangeably.

Question for Nikon D60 owners/users?

Thursday Aug 5, 2010

I have been shooting for the past year with image review and the info display on for about three to five seconds after every burst of shots. Battery life has lasted very long; I am very happy with it. However, I would like to know just how much the battery life will improve if the automatic image review is turned off, and the LCD is used to a minimal degree.

Anyone shoot like this? If so, please share your experience(s). Answers are much appreciated, thanks in advance!

It depends on how many pictures you expect to take before charging or changing the battery. Usually, I shoot with the automatic review left on. But if I see that the battery is running down, I’ll turn the review off to squeeze out the most shots before the battery dies.

As a sports photographer, I shoot a couple of thousand images at each assignment. Needless to say, batterylife is important, and I always carry several extras. Funny thing is, when I turn off the review mode on my Nikon DSLR’s, I keep turning on the review to see how the latest shots turned out.

Easy solution? Get a backup battery.

Why wont my nikon d60 charge?

Saturday Jul 31, 2010

it has been charging for over 24 hours and is still dead. the battery is only 3 months old i hope i dont need a new one…why wont it charge? the orange light just keeps flashing and flashing and when i put it back into my camera the battery gauge is flashing on the last bar…what should i do? i need my camera for thanksgiving

The D60 uses an external battery charger and the first time you charge the battery, can take up to 3 or 4 hours. After that, if you charge it the night before you plan to use the camera, the battery should last for a long, long time. I have a D100 and the batteries have lasted over five years and it is still performs nearly as well as it did when new.

The ONLY way you can damage these Li-ion batteries is to let them sit discharged for any length of time or use a generic battery charger which can overheat the battery.

Call the Nikon help line 800.NIKON-UX 24/7/365 and they can help a lot.
