my newly bought d60 does not start up. the dillema is that it did start up the first day i saw the flash the figues in the eyepiece and everything but after that wenever i put the camera back to on mode nothing happens. the battery is fully charged and i have also inserted it the right way. any help ?
Not starting up as in, when you flick the switch to "on", nothing happens? No lights? Menu can’t be assessed? If so, then it’s probably something wrong with the camera. Try consultign the manual for help, and if the problem persists, bring it to any general photo store and they should be happy to assist and suggest to you on what’s wrong and how to remedy it.
if the camera doesn’t take a picture when you press the shutter release, there may be 2 possible reasons.
1) There is no memory card inserted, memory card is full
2) memory card may need to be formatted

Nikon D60 verses the Canon Rebel XS (Canon EOS 1000d). 10 points to compare and contrast the user-friendliness of each. This video looks at the differences in:
-changing the settings
-flash exp. comp.
-WB icons
-quietness of camera
-focal points
-exposure compensation
-holds in hand
-deleting photos
-f-number changes
-live view
There are more differences that I preferred in either the Canon or Nikon. This is the top 10, with 5 pros for the Canon and 5 for the Nikon.
EDIT:
Thanks to “joshthegreat666 ” for pointing out a confusing point in my video. Yes, exposure compensation can be changed in manual in both cameras, naturally. When I made this video, I was new to SLRs. The Nikon was obvious on how to use this feature and with the Canon it was a ‘hidden feature’, as I call it. One has to press the shutter button down halfway and than it is possible to see this.

I am confused and I have a Lexar 4GB Platinum II 60X speed. I saw one with 133X speed, but I can’t return my 60X speed. I would like to know which is the best card.
Quality-wise, they are identical. Both have the same warranty. Unless you use "continuous" mode a lot of the time, you will never know the difference between these two cards. The 133X will have a slightly faster upload time, but 60X is already pretty darn fast and the 133X wouldn’t change your life or anything.

Essentially DSLR cameras come in about 3 levels: entry, prosumer, and professional. Examples: entry – D5000, prosumer – D90, professional – D3X
As a beginner, I suggest the D5000.
The Nikon COOLPIX S230 is a slim, compact and stylish digital camera with new touch screen technology. The COOLPIX S230 redefines the compact digital camera category. The Nikon COOLPIX S230's newly designed 3-inch Touch Screen has all shooting and playback functions at oneâs fingertips. Advanced features such as scene auto selector, motion detection and smile mode add to the COOLPIX S230âs appeal.
